About Pregnancy Care Center of LawrenceThe Pregnancy Care Center of Lawrence (formerly Advocate Pregnancy Services) is a non-profit, non-denominational Christian ministry established with the purpose of reaching out with Jesus' love to women in the Douglas County area facing unplanned pregnancies. We are here ready to help and explore the options with women to provide them with accurate information so they can make a thoughtful and informed choice for both them and their babies. The Center is staffed by a full-time director and carefully trained volunteers who have gained necessary knowledge and skills to help women. Some of those staffing the Center have walked the very path that many women now find themselves walking. We are also here to help women who have had an abortion and struggle with lifelong emotional and spiritual scars. We are here to help educate women about the development of their babies, what abortion actually entails and other options available, including parenting their child and adoption opportunities. Our Commitments Respect toward the lives of all human beings, including a mother and her child. We believe that all people are created in God's image and all life has value. Unconditional love for and acceptance of each person – that is, not based on the person's beliefs, convictions, values, lifestyle, or decisions that person has made or will make in the future. Respect toward the right to choose, with an understanding of individual responsibility. We believe that right to choose is given by God. At the same time, we also believe that each person is responsible for his/her decisions. That is why we believe it's our task to inform people about possible consequences of their decisions, while leaving their choice in their hands. Mission Statement Pregnancy Care Center of Lawrence, Inc. is a non-profit, non-denominational Christian ministry established for the purpose of reaching out with Jesus' love to women in the Douglas County area facing unplanned pregnancies. Core Values Faith in Christ We believe an unplanned pregnancy is often symptomatic of even deeper needs in a woman’s life. As we reach out with compassion and practical help, it is our desire to minister to the woman with the healing message of forgiveness and redemption through Jesus Christ. Education We believe that a child is created in the image of God at the time of conception and that abortion destroys that child’s life before birth. A mother may also be left with lifelong emotional and spiritual scars. A mother often makes a decision for abortion because she lacks accurate information. We propose to educate a woman about her baby’s development, what abortion actually entails and other options available, including parenting her child and adoption opportunities. We believe that accurate information is vital in helping a woman make a thoughtful decision for both her and her baby. Assistance & Support We believe pregnancy constitutes a God-given responsibility of mother to child. When a woman chooses to parent and raise her child, we commit to providing emotional and practical support before, during and after the birth. Adoption We believe adoption is a very positive experience in God's plan and serves as a picture of the believer's adoption into God's family. When adoption is elected, we will walk an expectant or new mother through the entire process. Healing We believe that a woman who chooses to abort will need our ongoing love and compassion. We will continue to make our friendship available and offer her any emotional and physical support she may need. Statement of Faith - We believe the Bible to be the inspired, infallible, inerrant, and authoritative, written word of God (2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:21).
- We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit (Genesis 1:1; John 10:30, 37-38).
- We believe in the deity of the Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His bodily resurrection, and in His personal return in power and glory (Luke 1:35; John 2:11; 11:25; Acts 1:1; Revelation 19:11, 16).
- We believe that the human race is fallen in Adam and that the salvation of lost and sinful man depends upon the substitutionary death of Jesus Christ and is made effectual by faith alone (Romans 3:19, 23; John 3:16, 19; Ephesians 2:8-9; Titus 3:5-6).
- We believe in the personality and deity of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 3:16, 6:19-20).
- We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; those who are saved to the resurrection of life and those who are lost to the resurrection of damnation (John 5:28-29).
- We believe in the Great Commission as the primary mission of the church, and in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ (Matthew 28:20; 1 Corinthians 12:12-13; Galatians 3:26, 28).
- We believe that man was created in the image of God and that, from the moment of conception, man bears His image. We believe that all life begins at conception, and we have no right to interrupt that plan of God (Genesis 1:16, 28; 5:1-2; Psalm 139:13-16).
